In Brief:

This is the place for CWT members to post their comments, share their knowlege, and interact with each other outside the confines of the meeting. Try it out! There are sample areas such as Urban Timber where members of the public can also post.

There are three levels of user access to the board:

1. Unregistered Users have very limited access to the board
2. Registered Users have more access to the board. Registration is immediate. Anyone can register.
3. CWT Members Usergroup has full access to the board. You must first be a Registered User, and you must actually be a member of the Chicago Woodturners. It only takes 4 clicks to apply, but takes some time for the moderator to confirm that you are on the official CWT roster.

If you are actually a member of the Chicago Woodturners, you will want to be a member of the CWT Members Usergroup. That is where, for example, the "original version" Newsletters are posted.

To Register:

• Go to www.chicagowoodturners.org/phpBB (or browse to the Bulletin Board through www.chicagowoodturners.com, or click Bulletin Board at the top of this page)

• Click on Register just under the banner. The Registration Agreement Terms page pops up.



• Confirm your age (just whether you're over or under 13 years old, nothing too personal). Click on the appropriate term. The Registration Information form then pops up.



• Fill out the form. Required information is your login name and password, email address, and entry of some numbers and letters (which weeds out robot applications). The other sections adjust what information is displayed to other members. You don't have to fill these sections out, but feel free to adjust the settings from their defaults.
• Click Submit at the bottom of the page.
• An email message will be sent to the address you entered on the form. It will have a link on it. Click on the link to complete your registration. You will not be registered until you click on the link in the email.

Once registered, you can go back and edit your user profile any time you like. You can change things such as whether other registered users can view your email address (non-registered users cannot see information about members) or link to your web page.

From now on, when you click on the Bulletin Board link, all you will have to do is log in. There’s even an option to automatically log you in on that computer (just check the box when logging in). The “auto login” expires after a set time in case someone inadvertently sets it on a computer used by other people.

To join the CWT Members Usergroup:

• You must already be registered (see immediately above)
• Go to www.chicagowoodturners.org/phpBB (or browse to the Bulletin Board through www.chicagowoodturners.com, or click Bulletin Board at the top of this page)

• Click on Log in
• Enter your name and password
• Click OK

Then, apply to the group:

• Click on Usergroups



Click on View Information



• Click on Join Group
• Wait for the email from the moderator informing you of the result
• You can visit the Bulletin Board while you're waiting, but won't have access to CWT Usergroup forums (your access level doesn't change up or down until you receive the email, when it goes up)

We can discuss what level of security we want on the board— is it only for CWT members, or is it principally for CWT members, or is it open to the woodturning public with some areas reserved for CWT members?
