From Chicago Woodturners
Welcome to Chicago Woodturners' Wood Turning Wiki!
This is the place for woodturners everywhere to share information on the art of woodturning. Post your tips, tricks, methods, guides for beginners, or your views on aesthetics. If it has to do with woodworking, carving, surface treatments, or wood art in general then feel free to post it here.
You can search and read articles without logging in, but please create an account and log in before posting.
To create an article first do a search on the topic. Enter a search term in the box to the left, then press Enter or click on Go. In case someone already has contributed an article on the subject, feel free to edit that article. This is a collaborative effort, so each article can have any number of authors. If no article exists that closely matches your contribution, there will be a red link near the top of the page that allows you to create a new article on the subject. You may want to do another search with the exact title you want, so that the article is better named. For example you may do a search on Faceplate, and if no article exists repeat the search for Faceplate Turning, create a new article, and save it.
To insert an image first upload the image you want to use. The 'upload file' link is on the menu at the left inside the toolbox. Keep track of the name of the image you're uploading. For this example, let's say you used 'myfilename.jpg'. Next, while editing your page, type [[Image:myfilename.jpg]]. This inserts the image into your article. For more information about inserting images, including thumbnail images (small versions that can be expanded by clicking) and alternate text (text that appears in place of the image, particularly useful to blind and disabled viewers) please see this [help page].
